Overview
VoilaBlot ("the Service") is a web-based western blot densitometry and quantification platform operated by VoilaScience. By using the Service, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
Research & Informational Use Only
VoilaBlot is a tool for research and informational purposes. It is not a medical device and is not intended for clinical, diagnostic, or therapeutic use. Do not use the Service to make patient-care decisions. Densitometry results are estimates that depend on image quality, acquisition settings, and the parameters you choose; you are solely responsible for reviewing, validating, and confirming any result before relying on it — including before using it in a publication, grant, or regulatory submission.
Account & Access
You must provide a valid email address to create an account. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials. Free accounts receive a limited number of analyses with full features. A Plus subscription ($99/year) provides unlimited access. We reserve the right to modify pricing with 30 days' notice to existing subscribers.
Your Data & Images
Western blot analysis runs in your browser. Your blot images are processed client-side and are not uploaded to our servers for the core densitometry workflow. The only exception is the optional "✨ AI band detection" feature: if you choose to use it, the image is sent to our detection API solely to return band locations, and is not retained beyond that request (see our Privacy Policy). We store only your account information, subscription status, and usage counts. You retain full ownership of your images, data, and results at all times.
Acceptable Use
You agree not to: (a) attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or extract source code from the Service beyond what is visible in the browser; (b) use automated scripts to access the Service in a way that degrades performance for other users, or to submit images to the AI detection API at a scale that constitutes abuse; (c) resell or redistribute the Service without permission; (d) upload content you do not have the right to process; (e) use the Service for any unlawful purpose.
Subscriptions & Billing
Plus subscriptions are billed annually through Stripe. You can cancel anytime via the Stripe customer portal accessible from your account page. Upon cancellation, you retain Plus access through the end of your current billing period. Payment card details are handled entirely by Stripe — we never see or store your card numbers. Disclaimer of Warranties
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose. While we strive for accuracy, VoilaBlot is a tool to assist your analysis — not a substitute for scientific judgment. You are responsible for validating results before publication. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that quantification results will be free of error.
Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, VoilaScience shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service, including any decisions made or conclusions drawn from densitometry results. Our total liability shall not exceed the amount you paid for the Service in the 12 months preceding the claim.
Governing Law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Oregon, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles. Any dispute arising from these terms or the Service shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the state and federal courts located in Oregon.
Changes to Terms
We may update these terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via email to registered users. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
