Privacy Policy
Your science is your business. We keep it that way.
The Short Version
Your blot images are processed in your browser. For the core densitometry workflow they never leave your device — we can't see them and we don't store them. The one exception is the optional "✨ AI band detection" feature, which sends the image to our detection API just long enough to return band locations, then discards it. If you draw bands by hand, your images stay fully local. That's by design.
How Images Are Processed
All core western blot analysis — image parsing, background subtraction, band intensity extraction, normalization, QC diagnostics, and chart generation — runs entirely in your web browser using client-side JavaScript. Your uploaded blot images are processed locally on your device and are not transmitted to our servers or any third party for this workflow.
AI Band Detection (Optional)
If you choose to use the optional "✨ AI band detection" feature, the blot image and your click location are sent to our detection API solely so it can return band locations. That API uses Anthropic's Claude API to analyze the image. The image is used only to return band coordinates for that single request: it is not used to train any models and is not retained beyond the request. If you never use AI detection and instead draw bands manually, your images never leave your browser.
What We Store
When you create an account, we store: your email address and authentication credentials, your subscription tier and billing information (managed by Stripe), and your usage counts (number of analyses performed). We do not store your blot images or your quantification results on our servers. When you submit feedback or a support request, we store your email address and your message content.
Analytics
We use Umami, a privacy-respecting, open-source analytics tool. Umami does not use cookies, does not collect personal data, and does not perform cross-site tracking. We do NOT use Google Analytics. We track aggregate usage patterns (page views, feature usage) to improve the product. We do not track individual user behavior or build advertising profiles.
Third-Party Services
We do not sell, share, or transfer your personal data to any other parties.
- Authentication: Supabase (email + Google OAuth)
- Billing: Stripe (we never see your card numbers)
- AI band detection: Anthropic Claude API (only when you use AI detection; images not retained or used for training)
- Analytics: Umami (privacy-respecting, no cookies, no cross-site tracking)
